I am having problem with web browser Mozilla Firefox’s latest version 2.0.0.5 (see datail)?

Celestial Tsuki asked:

All the previous versions worked in my PC. But when I updated the Firefox browser to the latest version, the browser doesn’t show Any website. Like- when I type www.google.com in the location bar and click the Proceed button, the browser says Done and the page is empty! As I said before, it doesn’t open any website.

Note:
Previously I tried to download and Install Java Runtime Environment. The Online installation wasn’t working and my PC hanged in the middle of the installation. So, I restarted my PC without cancelling the installation. After that my Firefox browser is showing this problem. (Though I can’t remember if the browser was 2.0.0.5 version or not at that time) I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it again in the same folder, but the problem is same. But if I install all the other versions except 2.0.0.5, those versions of Firefox works. Only the Latest version (2.0.0.5) wont work.

Installing the browser in different folder doesn’t change anything/solve the problem.

How can I dynamically add/remove tag in web.config in asp.net 2.0 from a code-behind file of an aspx page?

Pebble asked:

I am developing a website where it is required to dynamically change the theme of the site chosen by the end-user. I have found that changing the “Page” tag’s theme attribute controls the theme of the whole site. But can anybody tell me how can I do this when a user clicks on an image/image button with the theme’s snapshot as its source? Please help.

How do I get remote error details in ASP.NET 2.0 (I think)? I’m just getting the Runtime Error screen?

blue_prince_of_dallas asked:

I downloaded the Express (free) version of Visual Web Developer today and am trying to build my first website in ASP.NET 2.0. I’m an MCSD and I’ve done this before in ASP.NET 1.1.

When I create a new website in Visual Web Developer it doesn’t create a web.config file or a global.asax. Only a default.aspx. What is going on?

Does this Express version not do any of that? Am I not using the right menu commands to start? How do I get the error details to display remotely? (I’m building on my remote webhost and trying to debug from home).

This is a tough one I know. Please help.
To dhvrm:

Thanks for the feedback. It doesn’t seem to solve the problem. I added Debug=”true” to the Page directive. Then I removed the customErrors tag in web.config. Then I rebuilt the website and when I opened the page I got the same unhelpful Runtime Error message. Remember, I’m trying to debug this remotely. I then added to web.config, rebuilt, and got the same error.

You are correct that I failed to RTFM. Your comment made me laugh. I’m just trying to get a simple Hello World page to appear on my first project so I can start learning ASP.NET 2.0 (while I RTFM), but the default setup won’t work. I’m going to go search the web for some pages I can copy to my website and maybe I can get it to open. If you have any other suggestions they will be appreciated.

Thanks
I still don’t know how to solve this Runtime Error screen problem, but I got my Hello World page to display. My error was being caused by not setting up my web host correctly. I had to set the .NET version to 2.0 on the web host.

Looking for web hosted shopping cart solution with recurring bill payment feature for sale of digital products

hsh20 asked:

I have a client who wants his website visitors to pay for his articles. For example, a years payment would allow you access to his premium articles.

I need a solution where it supports recurring subscription payment

So I’m looking for a product that allows client to sell his digital product (articles) and collect payment for a year before he has to collect payment again for the next year.

Any suggestions for this?

I prefer a Web 2.0 solution not so much for the sake of the name of 2.0 but just because there have been some really cost effective 2.0 tools out there in the ecommerce world that has come along. But whatever works is also fine with me as well.

Just as long as it works!

Pointers for starting up a Web 2.0 business?

delmontebanana asked:

The question might be a bit abiguous, but hear me out :)

I currently have an idea that I’m developing that will utilise the formidable userbase of social networks (MySpace, Bebo, Facebook, Friendster, Hi5 etc) to market my “service” or “product”.

Essentially I’d like to set up a website where people can register and put certain details on this site, then for an application/box (that dynamically self-updates when they update on my site) to be present on that person’s profile page of their prefered social network site.

Having looked into most social networking sites, I know there’s a degree of flexibility whereby you can add components onto the page. (facebook API, myspace inserting scripts etc).

I guess my specific questions would be:
Would it be possible to link to my webpage from the social network with a click, are there any costs involved?
How should I go about writing a web application or design a website? Would I need a business angel/VC for this?

For Ex:

I want some action to be done which may store or read some information in database ( SQL Server 2K ) and perform some work on the data that has come along with the mail.

Thanks..

Ruchit S.
It will require trigerring ofcourse. So how do I set a trigger for the same. is this anyways possible ?

Are Yahoo Answers and other Web 2.0 communities eroding real knowledge and scholarship?

Lawrence R asked:

I am currently reading a book that is called “The Cult of the Amateur”. It is written by an ex silicon valley insider and has an extremely interesting take on the proliferation of amateur advice and information.

He claims that the current web communities that do not put any weight into credentials or fact checking are putting forth an irreparable amount of misinformation. Because there is no accountability on the website none of the rules of good writing or journalism need apply to the writers.

Also the commentary on the news and other events has so overshadowed the actual news and primary pieces of literature that they are losing sales. If the trend continues eventually secondary commentary will actually bankrupt the source of its news.

Personally, do you think that communities for and by amateurs, yahoo answers, wikipedia, blogs, are eroding knowledge, truth, and traditional media sources?
Lawyer - Its not that knowledge disappears but you get a form of fragmentation that erodes peoples feelings of absolute truths. If you read about structuralism then you will get a better feeling for the what the fear is. If everyone is allowed to put forth their own non fact based truth then truth and fact can become relative notions.

What should I do about my Web 2.0 project?

web2.0guy asked:

I have an idea for a new type of website which I believe people will truly appreciate and spend a lot of time on it. I spent almost a year working on the business plan, researching potential competitors (as there is no direct competitors as of now), working on the features, creating documents. Basically, all I need to do now is to pull up my sleeves and start coding. The problem is that I don’t have time as I have a job and a family. I estimated that it will require me more than 2 years of coding before I can release a stable version.

So, I’m thinking about selling my idea (probably very hard as I don’t want to disclose information for free), working for a potential competitor where I could manage this product or finally create an open source project where everyone could work on it. What are my other options? I would really want this project to go ahead as I think it will change the way people live experience and search the Internet.
